Azure Storm (蒼破追蓮 Souhatsuiren?, "Azure Tearing Pursuing Lotus") and Souhatsuiren (爪破追蓮?, "Claw Tearing Pursuing Lotus") are more powerful versions of Azure Edge.

Arte Description and History[]

Azure Storm was introduced in Tales of Destiny 2, used by Kyle Dunamis as an extension to his base arte Souhajin where he performs a downward slash followed by an upward slash after the projectile. This extension can be used only if the Tsuika Tokugi (追加特技?) skill enchant is added to Souhajin itself. During battle, it cannot be used separately; it requires Souhajin to be activated, after which the Attack button can be held to activate the extension. Outside of the original game, in every game this arte appears in when used by Kyle, both the original part and the extension part are merged into a single arte. In Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2, Tales of VS., and Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3, the second slash is from left to right.

This arte also appears in Tales of Vesperia, appearing as an altered arte learned by Yuri Lowell where he launches two Wind-elemental projectiles, similarly to Double Demon Fang. It can be used in place of Azure Edge when Yuri has the Chain skill equipped. After 100 uses, it becomes available as a separate arte that no longer requires the skill to be equipped. Additionally, after the same 100 uses, its projectile size and range increases, while its recovery time decreases.

In Tales of the Rays, Claw, Yuri's Form Change, performs a dashing slash instead of a second projectile and his version uses the kanji for "claw" ( Sou?) instead of "azure" ( Sou?).

This arte should not be confused with the generic Thief class arte Azure Storm, which has been localized by the same name but represents a very different attack.
