Akashic Torment (アカシック・トーメント Akashikku Toomento?) is one of Sync's mystic artes from Tales of the Abyss.
Arte Description and History[]
Sync slams his hand onto the ground, causing a fonic glyph to appear. Energy from around the glyph slowly travels toward the center and forms a tower of energy to damage anyone within range. In the North American version of the game, Ion also uses a similar arte in his extension to Luke fon Fabre's Radiant Howl. It may be possible that Akashic Torment is a Daathic fonic arte, as both Ion and Sync can use them. Akashic Torment is also visually similar to the Daathic fonic arte Ion uses in Cheagle Woods at the beginning of the game, lending more credence to the possibility that it is a Daathic fonic arte.
"Akashic" is the adjective form of the word "akasa", meaning "ether" or "atmosphere" in Hindu philosophy.
