[edit] Entering the stone dais

Upon entering the city’s stone dais at the top, Raine will go into Ruin-Mode and tells about the story. However, Lloyd sneaks away to explore alone, and end up finding two boys with a bomb, planning to destroy the dais. When Raine hears this, she kicks the boys away, but ends up activating the bomb herself. Because none of them manage to stop it, Lloyd tries and succeeds, telling the maker not to make things he cannot control. Then, however, the mayor or Asgard appears to take them away, so the boys run away.

[edit] The sacrifice

It is revealed that the two boys tried to destroy the dais because Linar’s sister, Aisha, is going to be offered as a sacrifice for the Summon Spirit of Wind. Because Linar was too careless under his research, he awakened a creature said to be the Summon Spirit of Wind sealed long ago, and after that Asgard has been under siege by it, and it has demanded sacrifices be brought to it, or else the city will face destruction. Aisha has been selected to perform the maiden ritual, but her brother and friend try to help her regardless of the consciences.

Because they think that the Summon Spirit of Wind may help them in their search for the next seal, Raine offers to perform the maiden ritual instead. Being accepted, she performs it and eventually summons the mystical creature. However, as it is about to take Raine, Colette says that it is not the Summon Spirit, but a fake. They then battle it, and when it is defeated, they get the Map of Balacrif, which Raine and Linar uses the next night on to read and translate. The day afterward, they have found the location for the real Summon Spirit of Wind, Sylph, in the Balacruf Mausoleum.

[edit] Maiden

While Zelos is in the party, it is possible for Raine to get the clothes she used in the maiden ritual in a side-quest. By entering the stone dais again, Linar and the mayor will ask Raine to do the ritual again. She agrees after some pursuing by Zelos and the other new members. While performing the ritual, Linar shows great affection to her, and Lloud and Genis reveal that Raine used to have a big fan club back in Iselia.

[edit] History

Asgard has a lot of history. By talking to people around the city, they will tell some stories about the past. Upon entering the stone dais in Asgard, Raine will also tell about it, with informations like:

  • The stone dais is a rare and valuable remnant of the Balacruf Dynasty.
  • It is the temple where Cleo III held a ritual to offer a sacrifice to the Summon Spirit of Wind in order to quell a storm that had raged for a week, and the altar is made for the Summon Spirit of Wind.
  • The curve is said to express the flight of the Summon Spirit of Wind through the sky. In addition, it is said that this stone is infused with a large volume of mana, although currently, due to the world’s mana shortage, the mana infused in the stone is said to be fading.
  • When the mana in the stone evaporates, it emits a unique aroma that is commonly knows as the Filament Effect. Along with the aroma, the mana released also causes a sparkling effect.
  • It is thought that the mystique created around the stone dais can be attributed to this Filament Effect since the people at that time did not understand the scientific basis behind it.
  • The Map of Baracruf has ancient Balacruf writing inscribed on it.
  • It would appear that the Windmaster, the mysterious creature who impersonated as the Summon Spirit of Wind, was the reason of the calamity that afflicted the ancient Balacruf Empire. It seems that the summoner at that time used Sylph, the real Summon Spirit of Wind, to seal it away, and then built the stone dais to suppress the calamity.
  • In preparation for the said, when this calamity might reawaken, he left the Map of Balacruf in order for people to be able to locate the Summon Spirit of Wind.
  • After a great many years, people eventually confused the calamity with the Summon Spirit of Wind.

[edit] Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

  • A city with many ancient ruins. The windmills and the stone dais are symbols of the city.

When Emil and Marta arrive at Asgard, they notice that the wind is very strong, and that is because there is a dormant core nearby. Then, the group comes across a blue-haired man. The man seems like he notices Tenebrae, even in his invisible state, but does not say much about it. Emil and Marta arrive at Aisha's house to see Colette. Marta asks her if it is true that the reason the Giant Kharlan Tree went out of control was because she ran away from her duty as a Chosen, and ends up hitting Colette when the latter answers positively. Emil follows Marta to console her, only to have a local boy criticize Marta for acting in such a harsh way toward the Chosen. However, a strong gust sends the boy dangling from a nearby column. Marta tries to save him with attempted help from Emil and Tenebrae, but Alice arrives and prevents Marta from recovering. As Marta and the boy are about to fall, Colette appears and uses Angel Feather on Alice to create distance between them, and Colette immediately flies towards them and saves them. Furious, Alice sends Hawk and her monsters to battle. After defeating them, Colette apologizes once again to Marta for the events at Palmacosta, and heads off to the mayor's house.

Emil and Marta arrive at the mayor's house to thank Colette for saving them. The mayor seems troubled with the strong wind, and Colette offers to help by checking on the stone dais with Emil and Marta. However, the group finds a monster called garuda may be the cause of the wind. They visit Hima to recruit a winged dragon that can destroy the protective membrane of the garuda. The group succeeds in defeating the garuda with the help of the winged dragon, only to find another garuda taking its place.

Colette and the others visit Aisha, who suggests they perform the maiden ritual on the stone dais. After Marta learns the ritual, the group once again defeats the garuda, and Marta quickly performs the ritual, revealing a portal on the stone dais that leads into an underground labyrinth containing a Centurion's core.

When they have come up to the surface again, they notice that Colette seems down. Confronting her, she says that she is worried about Lloyd, who is outing his life in danger by being close to the Centurions’ cores. Feeling sorry for her, Emil asks if she wants to continue traveling with them, as they will definitely meet up with Lloyd sooner or later. Colette declines, however, saying that Lloyd uses a Rheaird, and thus it is much easier for her to catch up on him by using her wings. Marta tells Colette that even though she cannot forgive the Chosen for letting her mother die, she thinks of her as a friend. They then part ways after talking to the mayor.
