Aska (アスカ Asuka?) is the Summon Spirit of Light, one of several spirits who represent Light. Aska is opposed by Shadow, the Summon Spirit of Darkness, and shares the element of light with Luna and Rem.

[edit] Appearances

Aska is the Summon Spirit of Light. In his incarnation, he always appears as some type of bird. In contrast to Luna, he is more associated with the Sun.

[edit] Tales of Phantasia

Aska appears as an eagle. It is the Spirit of Light, entrapped by the ancient civilization of Thor and caged throughout the years. When freed, Aska makes a pact with Claus F. Lester using the Topaz Ring out of gratitude and can be summoned through the Aska arte.

[edit] Tales of Symphonia

Aska appears as a two-headed bird and is one of the Sylvaranti Summon Spirits. Found wandering the world, he is summoned by a flute made from the Linkite fruit, taken from the Linkite Tree. He will not form a pact on his own and must be sent back to the Tower of Mana to Luna. There, he is revealed one of the Summon Spirits of Light. Despite being a Summon Spirit, appearing where the Summon Spirits gather, Aska cannot be summoned in the game, though dummied out voice files show that it may at one point have been planned.

In battle, Aska fights mainly using physical attacks using his wings, beak, and tail. He has access to one arte: Sunshine Nova (サンシャイン・ノヴァ Sanshain Nova?), which summons a ball of white light in front of him which then explodes.

[edit] Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon

Aska is the Spirit of Light and one of the twelve Spirits which must be fought during the Ordeal of Spirits. He is found on the final level of the Ancient Ruin in AC. 4306 and is the boss of that dungeon. Upon defeat, he teaches Mel and Dio about the challenging spirit (ちょうせんするこころ chousensuru kokoro?).[1]

[edit] Tales of the World: Summoner's Lineage

Fulein F. Lester can summon Aska as a unit.

[edit] Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

Though Aska doesn't appear in the game, his home in the Tower of Mana is connected to the Lake Sinoa Cave, where the Centurion of Light's, Lumen's, core is found. In reference to his position as one of the Summon Spirits of Light, his name is attached to one of the monster grimoires which teach light elemental artes: Aska's Embrace, which teaches Resist.[2]
