Earth Bite (バイトオブアース, Baitoobuaasu^?, "Bite of Earth") is an Earth-elemental advanced tier spell in the Tales series.

Arte Description and History

In Tales of Symphonia, Genis Sage can learn this spell after learning Spark Wave and Grave, if he is aligned with the "Strike" branch of artes. When Earth Bite is cast, a small ball of electricity surrounds the target and shocks it multiple times, causing Lightning-based damage. Then, a hemisphere of earth erupts from the ground surrounding the enemy and engulfs it, hitting it twice more for Earth-based damage.

This spell is notable as Genis's only spell in Tales of Symphonia that does two different types of elemental damage, with added Lightning element which is not included in subsequent appearances of this arte. In Tales of the Rays. Bite of Earth is the master arte to Martel Yggdrasill's Trap Bites, replacing that arte when it is used as the fourth or later action in a chain, a requirement which is ignored during Burst Limits.
