Centurions' cores
From Aselia, the Tales wiki
Centurions' cores are the key items in Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. The characters' main goal is to find all the cores and hatch them.
Centurions' cores are the dormant states of Centurions. Usually, when a Centurion is asleep or has lost it power, it returns into this form and goes back to a location which is highly tuned with the element they represent. For example, when Tenebrae gives his own life to save Emil, he becomes a core and returns to the Temple of Darkness, as he is the Centurion of Darkness. Usually, Centurions go to their lord, Ratatosk, to get their powers back when weakened, but while Ratatosk is asleep, they go to their special location.
[edit] Danger
A Centurion's core can be dangerous if remains in contact with a normal human for too long. This is because of the immense amount of energy that they radiate. The most common effect is insanity, as shown by the actions of Decus and Brute. However, some can remain in contact with them without being affected. Marta; as she bears Ratatosk's core, Emil; as a Knight of Ratatosk and Ratatosk himself, and Lloyd; who has Martel's protection as the namer of the new World Tree. It is speculated that Colette and Zelos may be safe as well because they are the Chosen, but it is unexplained.
[edit] Trivia
- Most of the Centurions' cores are located where the Summon Spirits once resided, but they are farther in. After being reawakened, Tenebrae explains that the temples were originally the Centurion's altars but they were made into seals when Cruxis took over.
