Corrine
From Aselia, the Tales wiki
Corrine (狐鈴 Korin?) is a Summon Spirit who looks like a fox, a character exclusive to Tales of Symphonia, voiced by Kanako Tateno in Japanese and Tara Strong in English. Unlike other summon spirits, he is man-made and doesn't possess the power to control a element. When summoned by Sheena Fujibayashi through the arte Summon: Corrine (降霊召符・狐鈴 Koureishoufu: Korin?), Corrine drops down on the enemy.
Corrine was born in Meltokio's Elemental Research Laboratory, though he hates the place due to the experiments performed on him in the quest for knowledge. Sheena often summons him to perform tasks she cannot do herself, such as distracting Noishe when necessary to subduing others. They also have a sense of camaraderie with each other.
The culmination of such a friendship comes when a lightning attack from Volt is aimed at Sheena in the Temple of Lightning. Corrine throws himself into the path of Volt's attack. Because of this, Sheena survives, but it is a lethal hit for Corrine. Corrine's death spurs Sheena on in their quest.
In Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3, Sheena Fujibayashi can use Koureishoufu: Korin as part of her arte set.

[edit] Verius
Later in the game, Sheena brings Corrine's bell to the altar at the Temple of Martel. After reaching the altar, Corrine's bell begins to glow and floats to the altar. Corrine appears, in a new form. This new Corrine tells that his new identity is Verius, the Summon Spirit of Heart. He was transformed into a true Summon Spirit when he died, due to the fact that the hearts of Sheena's party members centered around him. Sheena is disappointed that she won't be reunited with Corrine after all, but Verius tells her that without her help and help of her friends, his transformation wouldn't have been possible.
Verius returns in the sequel, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, with Iselia's Martel Temple as his home. The party seeks his help in sealing away the Ratatosk personality in Emil Castagnier, but Verius tells Emil that he can only do so if Emil wishes it with all his heart. Until Emil can resolve the conflict inside of him, Verius can do nothing but tells him that he will come if called. When Emil confronts his Ratatosk personality over his ruthless treatment of his friends, he comes to a decision, and Verius seals away the Ratatosk personality. However, that all changes when Emil faces Ratatosk's personality inside of himself after stopping Richter. Verius' voice can be heard again, granting the wish Ratatosk's heart is asking. This led to the separation of Ratatosk into his two forms: Emil and Ratatsok, allowing Emil to return to Marta in Palmacosta.
After meeting Verius, Sheena has a brief reminisce about Corrine.

[edit] Trivia
- In Tales of Vesperia, before the American version was out, it was long believed that one of the Entelexeia was in fact Verius as some kind of cameo character, since they had some common appearances. However, the American version dubbed the Entelexeia's name as Belius, opposing this. But this may just have been a translation mistake, as Japanese many times spell "v" as "b" and "l" as "r".
