[edit] Story
Hailing from the planet Derris Kharlan, he traveled to Aselia in order to retrieve a Mana Seed that could save his homeworld from mana depletion. However, in order to do this he needed to charge up a large amount of energy inside of Yggdrasill, the source of the planet's Mana. His objective was threatened, however, when Aselia begun to undergo an industrial revolution, especially within the city of Midgards, which begun consuming large amounts of mana through its magic-based machinery or magitech. As this drained away mana faster than it was produced, not only was Dhaos's plan threatened, but also the very existence of magic and summon spirits.
Discovering this, Dhaos set out to slaughter everyone involved with the study or production of magitech by summoning an army of monsters to assault Midgards, prompting the mobilisation of the kingdom against Dhaos's forces. With his fearsome hordes, Dhaos soon became feared throughout Aselia, but was challenged by four soldiers (the game's main characters) sent by Midgards to storm his castle after the armed forces thereof had driven his forces from and begun to occupy the Valhalla Plains. Fearing he would lose the fight, Dhaos fled to the future for the sake of his people with the intent of resuming his design to destroy magitech.
Arriving in the distant future, Dhaos resumed his designs but was again thwarted by a group of heroes led by Alan Albane, who, using powerful magic, sealed him away within the depths of the catacombs.
Unwilling to surrender, Dhaos contacted the power-hungry knight Mars Udole through telepathy, and, with the promise of great power, led him to attack the village of Toltus and massacre its citizens in search of one of the medallions, which was later taken from Alan's grandsone Cress Albane. The original possessor of the second medallion is not mentioned, though it was possibly the mother of Mint Adnade, who is later discovered to have been killed by Mars. When he was released, rather than great power, Mars met with his death at the sorceror's hands.
Following his flight from the past, however, the soldiers of Midgards flew after Dhaos to the time of his release from the ancient city of Thor, stopping him once again and leaving him for dead within the collapsing catacombs. Despite appearances, however, Dhaos had managed yet again to escape into an even more distant future in which the entire world had adopted Magitech, at which point he resolved to destroy all the nations that had taken to its power. The soldiers from Midgards again travel from the city of Thor into the distant future only to find that Midgards itself has been destroyed and that Dhaos's next target is the centrally-located Kingdom of Alvanista.
Upon their arrival in the distant future, the four soldiers, adding Cress's childhood friend Chester Burklight to their ranks, unseal the Eternal Sword, a blade capable of preventing Dhaos's use of his powers of timetravel. Forced to fight to the end, Dhaos unleashed his full might upon the heroes, drawing strength from his homeworld and transforming his own body, first into a grotesque, unnatural form and then, with the blessing of the gods of his homeland, an angelic form more powerful than the last. Despite his best efforts, however, the sorcerer was ultimately felled by the hands of Cress Albane and his companions by the power of the Eternal Sword.
Deeming his motives just, however, the heroes asked the Goddess Martel to send a mana seed to his homeland of Derris-Kharlan, alongside his deceased body.
[edit] Fighting
As the game's main boss, Dhaos does possess quite a fair amount of strength, with the Dhaos Laser being his most powerful (and well known) attack. When he uses it, the entire screen freezes and a devastating beam of light shoots across it, causing severe damage to anyone on-screen at the time. Also, most of his magic attacks only take around three seconds to charge up, forcing the player to string together huge combos in the hopes to remain unharmed.

During the final battle with Dhaos, the sorcerer undergoes two transformations. The first (and possibly most powerful) is his monster form. Born of his fear and of the power of Derris Kharlan, it consists of a long purple body with red wings and a long (attackable) arm. The second is Plume Dhaos, an angel-like being resembling the Cruxis from Tales of Symphonia.

- In Tales of Vesperia, he makes a cameo appearance in the 200 man melee Coliseum challenge in Nordopolica as the 125th enemy and as the first of four Tales of characters the player must fight (the other three are Shizel from Tales of Eternia, Barbatos from Tales of Destiny 2, and Kratos from Tales of Symphonia). He is given the nickname Time-Travelling Hero. His Mystic arte is Super Dhaos Laser.
- In Tales of Eternia, the Greater Craymel of Time, Sekundes, is based directly on Dhaos in appearance and abilities. This may be considered to be another cameo of Dhaos, but Sekundes and Dhaos are separate characters.
- In Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2, Dhaos appears as a boss in the EX Dungeon.
