Distortion (ディストーション Disutooshon?) is a rare spell that has only appeared in two Mothership Titles in the Tales Series, and is also the only spell that ultilizes an instant death on an enemy.

Arte Description and History
During the spell, the target gets trapped in an area of distorted time and space, having a chance of instantly removing it from battle. If successful, the target acts as if it never existed, providing no experience or drops at the end of battle.
In Tales of Eternia, the attack deals 10 hits of 500 damage regardless of level or magical attack power, for a total of 5000 damage, if the enemy is not deleted from existance. While this spell is in effect, the target cannot receive damage from any other attack, effectively trapping the enemy from participating in battle for the duration of the spell's effect and animation. However, like all other Craymel Artes in the game, no other spells can be cast while it is in effect, preventing other spellcasters from taking action during its very long animation.
