[edit] Personality

Flynn, in contrast to Yuri, is a knight who would solve the larger problem before the smaller ones. He has a similar sense of justice to Yuri, but would rather solve them through politics. His differences in ideology causes him to clash with Yuri, although the two are not really at odds with each other. This can be represented in the fact that Flynn chooses to work in the Empire, whereas Yuri chooses to work in the Guilds.

[edit] Fighting Style

Flynn's Cut-In for Enha Houyokushou

Flynn uses a sword and shield in the battle. Similar to a Magic Knight but with more physical artes than spells. His mystic arte is Radiant Dragon Fang. Flynn only fights during one battle throughout the whole game along with Yuri and Repede, at that point he has a limited amount of Artes at his disposal. In PlayStation 3 version, he obtains a second mystic arte called Enha Houyokushou, and dual mystic arte with Yuri, known as Bushin Soutenha.

[edit] Relationships

[edit] Party

Yuri Lowell - Flynn and Yuri have known each other since they were children, and ofte used to spend time together. However, after leaving the Imperial Knights, Yuri seems to act apatethic toward Flynn, ignoring all warnings Flynn gives him. In the PlayStation 3 port, their friendship is more shown.

Estellise Sidos Heurassein - Having met sometime in the past, Flynn wishes to protect Estelle with all his power. Although it at first resembles a princess-guard relationship, they seem to communicate more like friends, even if Flynn still refers to her as "Lady Estellise" instead of "Estelle".

[edit] PlayStation 3 Version

Flynn with Lukes outfit from Tales of the Abyss

Flynn is playable to a much larger extent in the PlayStation 3 version. In the original, he was only playable in an ambush cutscene and even then, he was sluggish, only had about 7 artes, and no Burst Artes, Fatal Strikes, or mystic artes when playable. He now is also fully playable, joins permanently after Yuri fights him in Aurion, and present during the last battle. Flynn also gets a cameo costume of Cress Albane If the game was also pre-ordered Flynn gets an alternate costume of Luke from Tales of the Abyss.

[edit] Trivia

  • Flynn's design is considered to look very similar to Guy Cecil from Tales of the Abyss. This is attributed generally to the art style of Kousuke Fujishima, who is noted for sometimes recycling some of his earlier character designs from previous works for even current projects. It is, however, possible that this was intentionally done to contrast with Yuri, whose design incorporates darker colours and a more unrefined appearance.
  • In the Cooking Contest (after getting all recipes, and talking to the Wonder Chef in Dahngrest), it reveals that Flynn is a horrible cook.
  • Flynn can be considered to be a foil to Yuri. The two have almost exact opposite personalities and attributes. For example, while Yuri can be considered a delinquent, Flynn can be called an honorable man. Another is that while Yuri is a great cook, Flynn is very bad at cooking.
