I was going through Lloyd's page really quickly for cleanup when I came across something. It's bothered me how we use "[Weapon]" on some pages to represent hits that are influenced by the character's weapon's element and then "-" for non-elemental. It's particularly annoying on pages where there's an endless parade of it. And some pages use "-" to represent weapon-influence anyway, but it doesn't distinguish from truly non-elemental (like Demon Fang's shockwaves). Is there some sort of solution that we can come up with? Lanate (talk) 04:15, October 4, 2011 (UTC)

Anything that is influenced by elemental weapon properties should use "[Weapon]". Anything that is non-elemental, therefore, will remain as "-". I know it looks messy, but I don't want to label a "non-elemental" or "null" element, as that puts it into conflict with Void in Phantasia, and Elemental in Eternia and NariDan 2/3. I recognize that the only pages where we ever implemented this are for Symphonia, but it really should extend to all pages.
In the original Destiny PSX, I recall fighting some wyvern thing in the colosseum as Stahn, and all of his attacks are nullified due to Dymlos's inherent fire property being added to all of his artes, except Shishisenkou (non-elemental) and Dankuuken (wind). I... think the initial two unarmed hits of Hienrenkyaku also did damage, but I definitely recall it's horribly weak by mid/endgame since those unarmed hits actually don't take into account the attack power boost from weapons and aura discs. And I don't think I ever managed to use Majinken as that wyvern stays flying. Every other arte that isn't already fire-based is elementally modified by Dymlos, and that really needs to be noted.
I think we only ever did this with the Symphonia pages because there is a cited resource that actually shows those details. The other games often don't have that sort of thing recorded, which would require us to figure everything out manually. That's why the "-" is used for both cases on most other pages, since no one has been able to define what can be elementally modified or not.
If you can imagine an alternative way to represent this, I'd like your thoughts.

For the ToD PSX case, that justs mean that Shishisenkou and the two unarmed Hienrenkyaku hits are non-elemental regardless of weapon, while I'm decently sure the rest just take on the element of the currently-equipped weapon, not just Dymlos.
The thing is, the [Weapon] case seems more like the default case, while the case of pure, always non-elemental is rarer. I think I'd actually advocate for Non-elemental or None cases being explicit versus [Weapon] being used, even with the possible confusion with Void being existent.
Part of this is admittedly motivated by personal aesthetics. I just think [Weapon] being everywhere in tables looks very wrong. Lanate (talk) 06:38, October 4, 2011 (UTC)
I suppose you're right. The weapon element mods happen more often than not, and it's the "not" that needs to be pointed out. I'd use "Non-Elemental" if it weren't for the fact that it's too long and will always be word-wrapped. Oh wait! It just occurs to me that we've been using "Physical" on the NariDan X pages to denote non-elemental attacks. We can use extend that term to cover all cases of non-elemental attacks, though I expect some might consider it a misnomer since people generally contrast physical to magical, rather than physical to elemental. And on that note, the normal attacks and artes in NariDan X will have to be verified if they also receive weapon element mods to maintain consistency.
