Gaap (ガープ Gaapu?) is a minor antagonist in Tales of Destiny 2. His involvement in the game's story is subtle, but he does serve as a brief obstacle for the protagonists in Kalviola. Gaap is a an average-appearing man with brown hair and wears a standard suit of metal armor. His appearance changes in battle, however, as he dons a large, robotic suit that grants him flight.
Gaap makes a single appearance during the story, confronting the group in Kalviola, where they are attempting to find Elrane and resolve the distorted timeline they are in. As he appears before the group at the end of the dungeon, he asks them if they have ever once tried to understand the "superior design" of the person they hate and have continued to oppose. He beckons if they are aware of how the consequences of their actions will inevitably harm them before claiming that, even if the "Supreme Elrane" forgives them, he never will. Loni Dunamis calls Gaap's devotion to his "salvation" disgusting before Kyle Dunamis claims that he and his companions will stop Gaap by force, if need be. Gaap makes a final statement of his plan to eliminate the group before engaging in battle with them and losing. After the fight, Gaap is not seen or mentioned again.
In battle, Gaap withdraws into a mechanized suit that levitates above the battlefield, serving as the first flying boss of the game. With a high physical defense due to his powerful armor, spells typically better serve the party, the element of Wind being Gaap's weakness. One of Gaap's most effective moves is a deadly wind attack that sweeps targets before him, striking them continuously. Capable of flying, he has great mobility, which makes him a threat to the party's mages.
