[edit] Trivia
- Four of the six God-Generals operate under assumed names, presumably to avoid their respective pasts.
- Dist is the only God-General to survive the events of Tales of the Abyss.
- Each God-General (including the commandant) may be seen as a rival to a player character -- Asch opposes Luke, Dist opposes Jade, Legretta opposes Tear, Arietta opposes Anise, Largo opposes Natalia, Sync opposes Ion and Van opposes Guy.
- According to one library text in Daath, another character named Cantabile is listed as one of the God Generals. Cantabile does not appear in Tales of the Abyss in person, but developer interviews have stated that she was designed in the original storyboarding process to be the original instructor for Tear, and the foil for Guy, instead of Van. Cantabile was featured in Tales of Fandom Vol.2, as part of Tear's quest in the game. Speculation from fans indicate that she may have gone into hiding, or perhaps might have been killed, due to her conflicting beliefs against Van's vision. Her position is succeeded by Asch by the time the game's events begin; prior to this, he was a "special operations" officer within the Oracle Knights, and was not counted among the God Generals.
- Most of the assumed names for the God Generals represent terms used within music: Syncopation, Dissonance, Alegretto, Aria, and Largo. Cantabile would be counted among these terms despite her absence, making it so all six of the original God Generals follow this theme. Asch's name follows a different reasoning, as explained within the game.
- Each God-General (with the exception of Dist, who is not directly confronted) appears to be associated with a specific element: Largo with Fire, Sync with Wind, Legretta with Light, Arietta with Darkness and Asch with the Seventh Fonon. It is presumable that Cantabile would be associated with whatever element Dist is not, either Earth or Water.
- In one library text in Daath, it is said Sync is the chief of the God Generals while Legretta is the adjutant commandant of the staff.
- In a library text in Daath, it says Largo is 1st division commander, Dist is 2nd division commander, Arietta is 3rd, Legretta is 4th, Sync is 5th, Cantabile is 6th, and Asch is special ops. Asch wasn't a real god general at the time, but later he gets Cantabile's position, while Cantible herself disappears.
