[edit] Getting a boat

When the party arrives, they agree to look for a boat they can travel with to Palmacosta in order to get to the next seal, which was told by Remiel to be across the sea. When they get to Izoold, they are told that Aifread, a somewhat famous captain, left a long time ago. They then meet up with a girl who seems like she is painfully waiting for Aifread’s return. When Lloyd and Genis tell the girl about Aifread’s whereabouts, she runs over to a boy names Max and demands him to find Aifread and give him her letter. Max refuses, but the girl eventually manages him to do it through the party. If the party says yes, they will unlock a side-quest that can be fulfilled much later in the game. They will then have a boat reserved to Palmacosta.

[edit] Saving Clara

Next time the party goes to Izoold, after Raine learns Resurrection, they see Clara from Palmacosta there, still in her monster-form. The mercenaries they met earlier are there, about to finish her off. But Lloyd and the others stop them and allow Raine to use her healing spell, making Clara return to human form. She is grateful for the help, but after Palmacosta is destroyed by the Giant Kharlan Tree, she does not know what she shall do.

[edit] Light and Darkness

In Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, Emil, Marta, Tenebrae, Genis and Raine find Regal, imprisoned in Izoold for causing the fire incidents a while ago. Because of these fires, an important villager was taken into coma. They all decide to find a cure for the man, so that he can say that Regal was not the one who caused the fires. As healing artes from neither Raine nor Marta work, they decide to go for an herb they know of that might cure him.

When they come back, they give the villager in coma the herb, and he eventually wakes up. He thanks the group, and says that he will go and explain the misunderstanding to the guards so that Regal may get out. When the group comes to the cells again, the guard has lost the key for the shackles, but Regal says that it does not matter, and destroys the shackles. Giving the guards his own company’s better shackles, they go to get a boat.

When they find a boat going to their destination, Emil says that he want to find out where the fire came from; if the source is not revealed, more fires might come. Raine is skeptical to this decision, though, as finding the Centurions' cores is just as important. However, Marta supports him, and Regal says that he can accompany them as well. Raine eventually agrees to let them be. Before leaving, she gives Regal a letter. When they ask what it is, she tells him to call is a love letter, shocking everyone. Regal accepts it, but Genis is terrified at the thought of Regal becoming his uncle. Raine drags him then over to the boat, bidding them farewell for now.

They eventually finds out that the light frogs, the monsters that cause the fires, are attracted to the new gels that a villager sells. They ask him to let a bunch of them be left away from the other villagers. Eventually, the light frogs appear, and they are defeated. After that, they continue their journey.

[edit] Eternal Bond

Izoold is also the place where Emil has the character conversation with Regal. Emil is grateful that Regal always has been so kind to him, but Regal states that if Emil is kind to him, it is just natural to show kindness back. Emil is a little doubtful when he mentions that he is Ratatosk, though, Regal says that then Ratatosk must have some kindness inside of him, as well. Before Emil leaves, Regal tells him that he is there because he was born, and he was born because he is needed.
