Jay is a young boy who has lived with small, otter-like creatures called Oresoren for most of his life. He is considered a genius in tactics and is highly knowledgeable when it comes to geography.

His "Norma Nickname" is "JJ".

[edit] Personality

Seeming to be a rather playful and sarcastic 16 year old, Jay is rather intelligent for his age and knows a majority of information about the Legacy and what is going on. He gets most of his information by either spying or from the Orosoren. Jay is also an excellent strategist, making up some of the plans that take place during the game.

While giving off that he is possibly one of the most mature people of the party, Jay can act like a child and claims that he gets excited when he meets someone who is skilled in something that he can also do. At first it seems as though he doesn't get along well with people outside from the Orosoren, but over time he becomes more open and starts having close relationships with all of them.

His constant sarcastic remarks and insults get on some of the character's nerve (Particularly Norma and Moses), and that fact that he can sometimes be a little trickster doesn't help either (Ex. When he tricked the party into risking their lives by using a submarine to enter the Ruins of Frozen Light, when in reality they could have used a secret door)

[edit] History

Jay is first seen in the Fountain Plaza and is one of the first main characters that Senel meets on the Legacy. Their meeting was anything but friendly, as Jay ended up getting Senel caught up in a small quarrel with the Townsmen, and then the Bantam Bouncers, by tricking everyone into thinking that Senel was going to give them a lot of gald if they could beat him.

Jay is soon mentioned by Norma as "Jay the Unseen", a supposed information-gatherer who tells people what they want to know in exchange for something. He accompanies Will and Chloe, taking them to the Orosoren Village, which is when the player learns Jay's name and that he lives with the otters. It was Jay who helps the party try to save Shirley in the Waterways, but the plan fails.

Jay is later one seen a few times, talking about strategies for the upcoming war with Valcav with Maurits and Will, but he doesn't join the party until the player is close to the Bridge, where the only reason he has joined is because he wants to protect the Oresoren.

[edit] Character Quest

During his Character Quest, the player will discover that as a child Jay went through rather harsh training and was constantly abused by his master and foster-father, Solon (Whom the player has met a few chapters before). Solon took Jay in when he was a baby, as he was abandoned, and brutally trained him in the way of the Ninja, constantly telling Jay that he was "uncared for" and merely a machine used for killing.

The Orosoren tell the party that Jay was apparently on a mission on the Legacy but failed, and so a fight broke out. The fight resulted in Solon using Jay as a decoy and fleeing, causing Jay to become seriously injured. It was Pippo,Poppo, and Quppo that found him and took him in, and since than the Orosoren have considered Jay to be "One of them". Also, Jay has been trying to rid his mind of Solon, hoping that he'll never find him.

During the Character Quest, Jay becomes affected by the Black Mist due to his feelings of loneliness and tricks the party so that he could kidnap Shirley for Solon, taking her to Mirage Palace. He does this because Solon threatened that if he didn't than he will kill the Orosoren, but this all proved to be a lie. Jay and Shirley were saved by the Orosoren though and run off, leaving them to battle Solon. After some convincing from Shirley, Jay realizes that he needs the others help and that he wants to protect the Oresoren, who have been a family to him- something he has always wished for.

After defeating Solon, Jay finally accepts everyone as his family and becomes a bit more open with his feelings as he is no longer lonely.

[edit] Relationships

Jay shares a rather shakey rleationship with the others at the start, but becomes more close with them as time passes.

He shows a small irritation toward Moses, constantly teasing him and mocking him, but he really does care for him like a brother. He doesn't seem to like being a "Little Brother" by Moses though, but at the same time he doesn't seem to mind, since he hugged Moses out of need for comfort when Grune was going to dissapear. In addition he also teases Norma at times, but the two are not afraid to insult Moses at the same time whenever they feel like it.

He gets along well with Chloe, Senel, and Will, and even develops an understanding realtionship with Shirley during his Character Quest. He also seems to care a lot for Grune, as at the end of Grune's Quest he appears to be affected the most by her dissapearence and even hugs her, begging her to stay. (Though this may be because he is losing a member of his newly found family)

[edit] Battle

Jay uses a variety of knife throwing techniques and kicking attacks that resemble that of a ninja. He mostly fights with his hands in his pockets and uses semi-long distance attacks to damage the enemy without having to put himself in harm's way.

While he is good for hitting enemies from far away or from above (Using eres like "Dagger" or "Falcon") Jay has a low level of defense and may need to be constantly healed. Whether he should be used as the leader character or as a support character all depends on the player, as he can be useful either way.
