Claus F. Lester is one of the main (and playable) characters in Tales of Phantasia, the first game in the Tales series.
Claus is 29 years old and from the town of Euclid. He has spent his life studying the use of “pact rings” to be able to bind with elemental spirits (such as Undine) and then Summon them. He lives with his assistant, Milard Rune
Tragically he is the only character that didn't get to see the other characters in the future.

Claus joins Cress and Mint on their journey to defeat Dhaos. At first he was hesitant to join them, but after hearing their story and plea for help, he agrees, using it as an opportunity to harness the power of Summoning.

Claus appears in Tales of Eternia as the host of the second round of quizzes at Mintche University, and as an audience member in the coliseum. In the US release of this game, his name was localized as Clark.

Claus' name appears as Klarth both in the official Japanese version of Tales of Phantasia and it's DeJap fan translation. Because of this, many fans opt to refer to him in that way.
