Meltokio is Zelos' hometown, and the capital of Tethe'alla. It is split in districts, the biggest difference being the noble area, where the rich live, and the slums, where the poor resides. Meltokio is the first city that the party enters upon entering Tethe'alla, and the second area they enter, after the Fooji Mountains.

[edit] Summary

[edit] Meeting the Chosen

The King of Tethe'alla resides in Meltokio, as well as the Chosen Zelos. The party comes to Meltokio in order to give the King a letter from Sheena, who has to leave to report the situation to Mizuho. When there, they also get a quick meeting with Rodyle, though they do not know who he is. When they get up to the district for the rich people, they encounter Zelos and his groupies, whereas the latter insult Colette for her strange clothes (which were described as "dressed like an angel for a festival). Colette, not being able to respond because of her soulless state, is backed up by Lloyd and Genis. Zelos manages to calm them down, before he begins flirting with Raine and Colette. But because Colette is in a self-defensive state, she uses her angelic strength and launches Zelos into the air. However, since Zelos uses an Exsphere, he manages to land elegantly on the ground again. Afterward, he comments that she is a strong little angel, before he walks away with his groupies.

Later, when Lloyd and the others manages to meet the King and the Pope in the castle, they also meet Zelos there, and are shocked to know that he actually is Tethe’alla’s Chosen. With some complications, they manage to go freely around in Tethe’alla, though they need to have Zelos with them to keep tags on them.

[edit] Trivia

  • After Princess Hilda is rescued in the Princess guard side-quest, a dinner party is hosted in the building next to Zelos' mansion.
  • In the manga, the party smash right into Zelos' house and causes Zelos to suffer from some injuries. Sheena also seems to already know him.
  • In the slums, there is a swordsman who is looking for a girl who sells flowers. This is likely a reference to Square-Enix's Final Fantasy VII, as one of the protagonists Aerith Gainsborough is a flower girl who works in the slums, and the main protagonist Cloud Strife is a swordsman.
  • Entering the slums later in the game also triggers a side-quest for Genis. Once the player completes it, Genis will get a Katz outfit.
  • If the player visits the palace later in the game, one can see that the Wonder Chef is outside. Talking to him will trigger an event which ends with Regal receiving the "God of the Kitchen" title.
