A joint venture by Namco and Telenet Japan, Namco Tales Studio Ltd. was founded in March 2003 and is dedicated entirely to creating Tales games. The first Tales game to be released by Namco Tales Studio was Tales of Symphonia, which was a great sucess both in Japan and elsewhere. Since then, Namco Tales Studio has become the main developer of the games in the Tales series.
Namco owns 60% of this venture, while Telenet Japan owns 34%, and Tales series director Eiji Kikuchi owns 6%.

The Namco Tales Studio is divided up into two teams, with the first being Team Symphonia and the second being Team Destiny. They take care of the series' 3D and 2D titles respectively.
