[edit] Biography
[edit] Personality
She comes off as conceited at first, but she cares deeply for her kingdom and people and is largely devoted to them. Her promise with Asch to change her country so that "no one has to be poor" and that "war never happens" is just one example of her love for Kimlasca. She was sometimes among her people as well, rather than just hearing about them in her castle.
It is obvious that the people of Kimlasca love her very much in return, as they are willing to put themselves in harms way when Natalia and Luke were chased out of the castle when King Ingobert refused to accept them, just so that their dear princess, of royal blood or not, was safe.
Natalia is also a good leader, making her perfect for the role as princess. After the events of the Absorption Gate, she went around Auldrant to make sure the peace was kept between Malkuth and Kimlasca, and to help cities in more deteriorating conditions. For six months, she had been hard at work trying to make Auldrant a better place.
During the party's trip to Mt. Roneal, it is also shown that Natalia is largely fond of ghost stories, and was ecstatic at the chance to hear one from Jade, though Tear did not share her excitement and quickly cut him off.
[edit] In the beginning
Natalia was initially bossy to everyone, at first. She even forced Luke to let her join him on his trip to Akzeriuth by blackmailing him.
Before she even left Kimlasca, she knew she had to change a few things about herself. She insisted to everyone that they call her by her name, rather than adding "Princess" to it, in order to hide her identity. As a result, she couldn't act like a princess either, which she is not very good at, but tries none the less.
Throughout the party's time in the Abandoned Factory, she was rather haughty to the party and a constant annoyance, berating Luke on how he should not be mixing with 'commoners' and even taking over Luke's position as leader of the group. Her attitude only truly changed when Tear saved her from being flattened by a monster, and she is much nicer here on out.
[edit] Meeting Asch
What Natalia knew was turned upside down upon finding out that Asch was her true fiancé. Though she had always clung to Luke, despite his feelings on the matter of marrying her, she thought he was different from before. She wanted her old Luke back. Natalia's wish was granted, upon meeting his original, Asch. Despite how Asch claimed to not be the same, it was obvious he loved Natalia, and vice versa.
However, at this point, Natalia was largely dependent on Asch for support, and this causes some problems for the party later on.
[edit] As the heir to the throne
Natalia never seemed to get a break from drama in her life. When she was in Chesedonia, trying to correct the mistake of the war between Kimlasca and Malkuth, Mohs revealed that she wasn't truly King Ingobert's daughter and is actually the daughter of her nanny's daughter, Sylvia. In fact, his true daughter was stillborn. With the shock of this claim and even with the evidence to back it up, Ingobert then decides to disown her and Luke, who was a replica.
King Ingobert then tries to poison her and Luke for their crimes, intending to wage war against Malkuth a second time, when they're saved just in time by the rest of the group and Asch. Despite how the people in power feel about Natalia being a fake, the people still considered her the princess of Kimlasca. Eventually, Ingobert accepts her once again as his daughter, despite having no blood relation.
[edit] True Identity
It was later that it was revealed that her real father is Badaq, the husband to Sylvia, also known as Largo the Black Lion, which, perhaps, why she is remarked to have the stamina of a farm hand despite her royal birth an upbringing. The name given Natalia by her true parents is Meryl.
Natalia, shocked by this and going into denial, goes to confront Largo, to which he tells her that both his wife and daughter died years ago, showing that Largo no longer thinks of Natalia as his daughter.
The second time the party goes to the Absorption Gate, Largo is there waiting for them, and they end up having to fight. Natalia strikes the finishing blow before he can harm Luke, and after a short conversation, Largo breathes his dying words:' Farewell, Meryl. ' to which, a shocked Natalia calls him " father ".
[edit] Eldrant
The death of Asch marked the end of how she relied on others to help her out. At first, when Luke told the party about Asch's death, Natalia went into shock. This almost caused the party to be obliterated by one of Sync's traps. It takes a slap and telling off by Jade for her to finally realize how dependent she had been on Asch, and quickly apologizes to everyone for it.
Despite the shock it was, it marked the beginning of a new strength - from only herself. Natalia even quit mixing Luke and Asch together as the same person, finally understanding that they were two completely different people. She even realized that her promises made to Asch were no longer valid.
