Ossa Trail

From Aselia, the Tales wiki

Ossa Trail is a trail that the player must pass in order to get from the Triet desserts and over to Izoold.

[edit] Clumsy assassin

Lloyd and the party first travel to the Ossa Trail to get to Izoold for a boat ride in order to get to the second seal. Upon their arrival, they are stopped by a mysterious woman who asks if the Chosen is among them. Colette cheerfully says that it is her, and the woman then tries to attack her. Colette then falls down on the ground while the woman runs toward her, and a pit is opened underneath the assassin, making her fall down in it. Colette worries whenever she (the assassin) is all right or not, but Genis assures her that she will be alive, though Raine is slightly frustrated that they do not think anything about the fact that the woman could have killed the Chosen One. Kratos will then suggest that they continue, due to the clima making it easier for the woman to follow them if they stay for too long.

When they arrive at the end of the trail, however, the woman returns. Colette is relieved that she is okay, something that frustrates the woman. They then get into a battle against her and an elemental guardian. Eventually the party defeats her. The woman will then disappear in smoke, and Lloyd wonders why people were after killing Colette, whereas Kratos says it is because there are always those who reject salvation, even human, although Genis suggests that she is a Desian. Raine seems like she recognizes the clothes the assassin wore, though does not say anything. They then leave, but then a Skit will appear where Kratos teaches Lloyd about Unison Attacks.

[edit] Sword Dancer

After defeating the assassin, the player has the option to go inside the mine she fell in to face the first form of one the game's super bosses, the Sword Dancer. When inside, they see a darker version of a regular skull that you are able to talk to. It will then says, YOU LOOK STRONG. I WANT TO FIGHT YOU NOW! After this, a boss battle will start and the player must face a giant skeleton with four swords. After they defeat it, it will disappear. This battle must be done before the first visit to the Tower of Salvation, though it is suggested not to fight it right after the battle against the assassin.

[edit] Tales of Symphonia manga

In the manga, the assassin appears like in the game, but instead of falling first, she fights with her Guardian against Lloyd and Kratos, but shortly after falls down the hole made by Colette. She is not seen at the end of the trail, either, though in a different scene she is in the cave, angry at herself for her failure.

The Sword Dancer is not mentioned in the manga.
