•Tales of Berseria
Phoenix (フェニックス Fenikkusu?) is a supporting character in Tales of Zestiria and Tales of Berseria. A hot-headed normin, he is the group's sort-of leader, never-ending in his quest to free his fellows from their perceived abuses.
Phoenix was the normin's sort-of leader, the only one of the group who would not accept their subservience to other seraphim. To this end, he attempted to stage an uprising against their work conditions, but the other normin simply asked for vacation time, which they received. Undaunted, Phoenix battled Eizen and eventually lost, vanishing from public consciousness. In truth, Phoenix was charged by Eizen to protect Edna, Eizen's little sister, and so he masqueraded as the mascot on Edna's umbrella, though Edna and the other normin were well aware of his presence.
When Sorey's group gathers the other forty-nine normin, Phoenix issues them a challenge. He reveals himself at Igraine and tests their worth. After being bested, Phoenix leaves Edna in Sorey's care, prompting the group to again realize the depth of Eizen's desire to protect his little sister. Phoenix then tries to revive the normin rebellion, but the other normin shut him down instantly, pointing out that Sorey's group does not abuse them. Phoenix agrees to help out, never once letting go of his dream for a normin paradise and stayed behind with the other normin. After the battle with Sorey's group, he sends a letter to Edna, along with an identical plushie of himself to attach onto her umbrella, reminding her to think about him when she is lonely.
Appearance and PersonalityEdit
Phoenix has the same general shape as the other normin, with a light brown body and orange-colored hat. In contrast to the other normin's laid-back personalities, Phoenix is hot-blooded and active, though these traits also disguise a surprisingly fragile ego. Nevertheless, Phoenix takes his duties seriously and always wants the best for his fellow normin.
Phoenix specializes in unarmed techniques that allow him to change his size. In reference to his namesake, Phoenix also has mastery over fire, which he incorporates into his attacks, and over rebirth, which allows him to revive several times when his HP reaches 0. His mystic arte, Surging Ascent, allows him to transform into the phoenix.
