[edit] Arte Description and History

Ray is a light-elemental arte which, as its name implies, releases beams of light across the battle field. The rays of light are usually angled and just rain from the sky. In some games, such as Tales of Eternia and Tales of Symphonia, the rays may originate from a ball of light.

In Tales of Symphonia, Raine Sage learns this spell at level 46 after using Photon more than fifty times on Technical mode, its Strike counterpart being Holy Lance. When combining this spell with one of Genis Sage's advanced tier spells in a Unison Attack, they create Prism Stars, one of the strongest Compound Special Attacks in the game. In the PlayStation 2 version of the game, Raine is able to create more Compound Special Attacks with Ray; if combined with a Angel Skill, it becomes Fukuin; if combined with either Fuujinken or Kuuhashou, it becomes Gungnir, and if combined with either Sakurikifu or Hamatoufu, it becomes Majoukoufu.

In Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3, the Clown costume can use the Bakuchi arte to cast Ray, depending on the roll of die.
