Renegades

The Renegades are an organization that for a long time in the game Tales of Symphonia was believed to be the Desians. However, in reality the Renegades were founded to overthrow the Desians and Cruxis. Therefore, they try to kill the Chosen of Regeneration every time the latter is going on a Journey of Regeneration. Their other main goal is to kill the Seal of Origin; Kratos Aurion, though this seems only to be known by Botta and Yuan.

The leader is thought to be Botta, but is revealed to be the next-in charge when the real leader, Yuan from the Four Seraphim of Cruxis, is shown. However, Yuan never shows himself before people as the leader of the Renegades, thus he manages to maintain his position in Cruxis to spy on his old companions Mithos Yggdrasill and Kratos Aurion.

Yuan Ka-Fai - He is the leader and founder of the Renegades, and is also a double-agent. His main, personal goal is to stop the resurrection of Martel, his late fiancèe.

Botta - He is the next-leader of the organization. Not much is known about him, except that he seems to understand Yuan and thinks of him as a friend. He dies later on to save Lloyd and the others.

Zelos Wilder - He is a triple-agent, being a member of the Renegades, Cruxis and of Lloyd's group. He spies on Lloyd and the party and sends information over to them. He does not seem to think that the Renegades are that strong, though, as he will choose either Cruxis or Lloyd's group depending on the player's choices throughout the game.

Vidarr - A minor character from the beginning of the game, Vidarr is a giant half-elf in Viking-clothes that attacks the trio. When the latters are exhausted, and Vidarr is about to take a finishing strike at Lloyd, Kratos comes forth and saves them. In the game, he helps the group to defeat Vidarr, while he in the manga kills him all alone. Vidarr does not appear in the anime.
