St. Binah, the Citadel, sometimes spelled Saint Binah and eventually known as Fallen St. Binah, is a political city located on the Rugnican continent in Tales of the Abyss.
St. Binah is located in eastern Rugnica near Engeve and Shurrey Hill. It is a colorful city with a large plaza, brick walkways, and myriad of blooming flowers, all of which attribute to the citadel's defining scenery. The city has a population of 250,000.
After escaping from the Tartarus, Luke fon Fabre, along with Tear Grants, Jade Curtiss, Guy Cecil, and Fon Master Ion, seek to take refuge in St. Binah only to find the city occupied by Oracle Knights. They manage to sneak in through a carriage thanks to Engeve's mayor, Rose, who owed them a favor for solving the storehouse thefts back in the village. Inside, they meet Field Marshal McGovern and his son, Glen McGovern, who received a letter from Anise Tatlin explaining her retreat to Kaitzur. When the group attempts to leave the city, the spot five of the six God-Generals: Arietta, Largo, Dist, Legretta, and Sync. Once the God-Generals finish conversing, they abandon the entrance and recall all soldiers in the city. The group then decides to head for Kaitzur to meet with Anise and cross the border into Kimlasca.
Later in the story and upon hearing that St. Binah will fall, Luke convinces Tear to return to the Outer Lands in hopes of preventing its collapse. They use the Yulia Road to leave Yulia City and enter Aramis Spring, where they rejoin Guy. Afterward, they reunite with Jade, who tells them that Ion and Natalia Luzu Kimlasca-Lanvaldear have been kidnapped and taken to Daath. After rescuing them and traveling to Grand Chokmah to inform Emperor Peony of the situation, he asks for their assistance in evacuating the residents of St. Binah. The group complies and travels to St. Binah only to be delayed by Dist and his "Kaiser Dist RX". In the midst of the rescue operation, the land around the city shakes and begins to sink, and the remaining residents are eventually separated from the group. They travel to Sheridan, knowing that it took several days for Hod to sink, in hopes of obtaining a means of flying. There, the group is forced to rescue Ginji from the crashed Albiore in the Meggiora Highlands in order to obtain the hover drive. Using this hover drive and parts from the Tartarus, the Albiore II and its pilot, Noelle, are ready. The group returns to St. Binah and rescues the remaining residents before the entire city slowly drifts into the Qliphoth.
