Suzu Fujibayashi (藤林すず, Fujibayashi Suzu) is the only optional character in Tales of Phantasia. Her seiyuu (Japanese voice actor) is Taeko Kawata.

Suzu is an 11 year old ninja and is granddaughter of the chief of the Ninja Village, Japoni. It is strongly believed that she is Sheena Fujibayashi's descendant, as Tales of Symphonia is a prequel to Phantasia.

[edit] Role in Tales of Phantasia

Suzu seeks her parents, who have been missing for months now ever since Dhaos began to brainwash and recruit other ninjas of her clan. This eventually leads to their tragic deaths during Cless' fights in the coliseum in Euclid, which Suzu witnesses herself. Upon revisiting Japoni, she and her grandfather Ranzo both will ask the party to let her join and help them in their quest, for as promised, they helped her find her missing parents despite the sad turn of events.

• Taeko Kawata: Provided Suzu's voice for the Japanese version of Tales of Phantasia.
• Lynn Eve Harris: Provided Suzu's voice for the western version of Tales of Phantasia on the GBA.

[edit] Super Famicom and Playstation Differences

Suzu did in fact originally appear in the Super Famicom version. However, she looked very different, and she was not a playable character. When the PlayStation remake was released, she was added as a sixth, secret character. Her basic story stayed the same, but was expanded, and even included an additional side-quest exclusive to her. Suzu has since appeared as a playable character in every version of the game since the PlayStation version.

Suzu is set to appear in Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 as a playable character, although her excact role has not been revealed. She will be able to summon Jiraya.
