Swordsman (剣士 Kenshi?) is a recurring job class in the Tales series. A swordsman's moveset consists mainly of the traditional strike artes associated with swords, such as the almost ubiquitous Demon Fang or the rapid stab maneuver Sword Rain.

[edit] Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon
The Swordsmen (けんし Kenshi?) are costumes available to both Mel and Dio, requiring them to combine two Apprentice Swordsmen (みならいけんし Minarai Kenshi?) costumes.

The Swordsmen (けんし Kenshi?) are a series of costumes for both Frio Sven and Kyaro Orange. To obtain a swordsman requires giving a costume the Steel Sword (スティールソード?) root item to get the Swordsman of the same element. The Swordsman variations are:
- Non-Elemental: Swordsman (けんし Kenshi?)
- Fire: Flame Swordsman (ほのおけんし Hoonokenshi?)
- Wind: Gale Swordsman (しっぷうけんし Shippuukenshi?)
- Water: Hail Swordsman (ひさめけんし Hisamekenshi?)
- Earth: Berserker (ベルセルガ?) (Male) and Amazoness (アマゾネス?) (Female)
- Thunder: Thunder Swordsman (かみなりけんし Kaminarikenshi?)
- Light: Holy Swordsman (せいけんし Seikenshi?)
- Dark: Demonic Swordsman (まけんし Makenshi?)
- Void: Master Fencer (けんごう Kengou?)
Garr Kelvin, Mary Argent, and Ras have their costumes based on the Swordsman costume. Cress Albane's and the Valkyrie's costumes are based off of the Holy Swordsman, with Stahn Aileron's being based off of the Flame Swordsman, Leon Magnus, the Demonic Swordsman, and Reid Hershel, the Berserker.

The Swordsmen (けんし Kenshi?) are a set of costumes for Frio Sven and Kyaro Orange. Frio begins with his Swordsman costume, but Kyaro must combine her Costume Artist (なりきりし Narikirishi?) with the root Fencing Manual (けんじゅつしょ?) to obtain hers.
Cress Albane, Stahn Aileron, Garr Kelvin, Mary Argent, Reid Hershel, Kyle Dunamis, Lloyd Irving, Presea Combatir, and Kratos Aurion all have their costumes based off of the Swordsman.

The Swordsman is one of the starter classes, specializing in physical attack power. The males are modeled after Rassius Luine.

The Swordsman is one of the elite classes of the game. In order to get the invitation to become a Magic Knight, all one needs to do is become a member of Ad Libitum, at which point the Swordsman Invitation is given. After that, 100 Grades are needed to be allowed to become a Swordsman. For a list of artes, see this page.
