[edit] Before Tower of Salvation
After Lloyd passes out from an attack in Triet, he and Genis are taken to the base, believing they are Desians. Genis, because he is of the same race as the Renegades, is left behind, also because they did not get any orders to get him.
When Lloyd wakes up, he is in a cell, been taken away all equipments other than the Sorcerer's Ring. He uses this to trick the guard into opening the cell, and while he is on the run, he gets back his equipment. When he comes to a large room, he sees two guards who look for him. When not finding him, though, they complain about Botta’s hard way of entering other rooms, where you have to put two androids on each area to open a door. When they had left, Lloyd makes the androids stand in their areas, and runs further. Suddenly, while trying to find a way out, he runs into more guards, and escapes into another room. It looks like the guards go past the room, and Lloyd sighs in relief. However, it does not stop there. Suddenly, a blue-haired man with a cape appears behind him, asking who he is. The man threats Lloyd with an electric ball, but Lloyd insults him calling him a moron. As the man is about to shoot the electric ball, he notices Lloyd’s Exsphere, and instantly asks him if he is Lloyd. When being confirmed, the man comes closer and states that he “sees the resemblance”.
Suddenly, Botta and some other guards say that the Chosen, meaning Colette, and her companions are inside the base. The man with the blue hair retreats in fear of being seen by “him”, leaving Botta to fight the heroes. Swearing to Lloyd that he will be his the next time they meet, the man leaves.
Then Colette, Genis, Raine and Kratos arrive, asking if Lloyd is all right. They then have to fight Botta and two guards. After the battle, Kratos destroys the sword Botta uses. Botta and the guards run off, and Raine picks up the sword, seeing something shining on it. They then leave.
[edit] After Tower of Salvation
When the party has been in the Tower of Salvation, they are saved by the Renegades. When Lloyd wakes up, he finds himself in a room with the others, a soulless Colette included. They then summarize their situation; Cruxis and the Desians are one, Yggdrassil is the leader of Cruxis, and Kratos betrayed them. A guard then comes to them and tells that their leader wants to speak with them. They see the blue-haired man again, who will explain how there is another world parallel to Sylvarant. Suddenly, when Raines understands that the Renegades were the ones who attacked Colette in the Martel Temple and Lloyd asks which side they are on and if they still want to kill Colette, the leader of the Renegades surround them, saying that the one they need is actually Lloyd, now that Colette is useless in her soulless state.
When the man comes closer, though, Lloyd kicks him, and the man falls on the floor. With his name, Yuan, being revealed, he curses Kratos for always standing in his way. Lloyd does not really understand what he means with this, but with Sheena using Corrine as a distracter, they run away.
When they manage to be alone for a while, Lloyd is furious as to why the Renegades need him. Raine then suggest that they all go to Sheena’s homeworld, Tethe'alla, in the hopes that they will find a cure for Colette and the answers to Lloyd’s questions. Sheena tells them how the Renegades also convinced their king to send her off to kill Colette, because if Sylvarant succeeded, they would be the declining world. That is also how Sheena got her Exsphere, through the Renegades. Sheena also explains how to travel between the worlds, which are through flying machines called Rheairds.
When they get to the hangar with Rheairds, they hurry up and get going, and that is when they start their journey in Tethe’alla.
[edit] PlayStation 2
In the PlayStation 2-version of Tales of Symphonia, it is possible after the last events in Welgaia and before the last battle to go and talk to Yuan, who then will tell more about Mithos and their journey four thousand years ago.
[edit] Tales of Symphonia manga
The major differences between the game and the manga is that Lloyd was never taken to the base; instead, a short image of Yuan before his table is shown early in the manga, after hearing from a double-agent in Iselia Human Ranch about Lloyd’s Exsphere.
Excluding this, most of the happenings in the Sylvarant Base are like in the game. The most noticeable differences are that the group is taken to the base awake; they wake up before entering the base, and the Renegades explain everything at the base later.
[edit] Tales of Symphonia: The Animation
After Yuan saved Lloyd and Colette form the Tower of Salvation, he took them all to the base. When Lloyd wakes up, he sees the soulless Colette standing, and goes to her. Seeing that she does not respond, he apologizes and hugs her. That is when Yuan and Botta come in and warn Lloyd about Colette’s “defense-mode”, whereas she will attack anybody who may threaten her.
After explaining them about Cruxis and the Desians, as well as how Kratos betrayed them, Raine once again comes with the conclusion that the “Desians” at the Martel Temple were actually the Renegades. Shocked at this, Lloyd asks which side they are on. Yuan says that they are not on either, but that they do not have any need for the Chosen anymore, as she is useless in her soulless state. Instead, he claims that the one they need is Lloyd. Although Lloyd wants to know why, Yuan does not say anything, but as they are in a room with only one exit which is blocked by the guards, Lloyd does not try to do anything.
Then, a female Renegade guard comes forth and tells Yuan that there is an intruder. Yuan, realizing that the guard is the intruder, uses his sword and charges at her. The female is not hit, and uses special cards to make an explosion. Using this, she helps the group to escape, revealing herself as Sheena. Sheena tells them that she knows of a way to bring back Colette, and takes them to the Rheaird hangar. There, while preparing the machines, she tells them about Tethe’alla, the other world where she is from, and how they possible know how to cure Colette. However, there might be a chance that they never will return back to Sylvarant, so they have to be sure that they will do so much to save Colette. As Lloyd, Genis and Raine say that they will, Sheena helps them on the Rheairds, and they leave.
At the ending sequence, Yuan is seen at the hangar, looking at the tunnel the group had escaped with a frowned look.
