The story is set in the world of Luminasia, where large countries dominate smaller ones for the sake of harvesting Hostia, a form of crystallized mana produced by the World Tree. The story follows the player and the guild Ad Libitum as they investigate a red smoke, capable of altering the forms of living creatures, which people have mistaken for the wish-granting manifestation of the Descender. Slowly, they learned that Hostia was not provided for humans to mine, but rather, to seal one of Luminasia's seed worlds, Jildea.

Battle System
Radiant Mythology 3 utilizes the Flex Range Linear Motion Battle System from Tales of the Abyss, using the free run system by using the PlayStation Portable's analog stick. The game introduces a new ability known as Radiant Drive, which allows the players to ignore the normal arte combo progression, similar to how Overlimit functioned in Tales of Vesperia. During Over Limit there is an ability which allows the player to use artes without consuming TP.

Job Class System
+
Leveling System
  +
Unlike the previous two Radiant Mythology games, guild members who are not in the active battle party will continue to gain in experience and level at the same rate the Protagonist's group does. This enables the player to switch between characters and organize any possible battle party freely, without having to grind to increase the level of a character who would otherwise have fallen behind in strength and abilities. All characters not in use will not gain experience after reaching level 70.
Like previous installments, this game includes the job class system that allows players to change job classes by talking to the Guild leader. To unlock high classes special conditions must be done and to change the characters job class players still need to use grade points to transform into them.

Class System
+
Transfers and Upgrades
  +
Compared to the earlier games in the series, ore materials are no longer required to upgrade weapons. Instead, Poppo is in charge of skill transfers and equipment upgrades. Poppo is available after an event involving Pippo about their missing brother. By accepting Poppo's personal requests, more metals can be unlocked for upgrading.
*Warrior - A fighting class that specializes in close range combat.

  +
*Swordsman - Has a variety of strong and quick sword attacks.

  +
To transfer skills, two pieces of equipment are required, one which is upgraded with the target skills and another which the skills will be transfered to. Each transfer will reduce the equipment's durability until it reaches zero. To upgrade equipment, gathered metals must be used on that item to increase statistics such as attack power and agility. Both features require gald to complete the procedure.
*Thief - Uses quick dagger attacks, giving enemies little chance to counter.

  +
*Mage - Uses offensive magic spells for dealing damage.

  +
Job System
*Priest - Specializes in healing and support magic.

Like previous installments, this game includes the job system that allows players to change jobs by talking to the Guild leader. To unlock advanced jobs, mastery in the base jobs that comprise the newer job's portfolio must be achieved by reaching level 30 in all required jobs. However, unlike the previous games, grade points are not necessary to change jobs.
*Fighter - Uses fast and power attacks based on martial arts.

  +
*Hunter - Long range fighters that are masters at fighting with a bow.

*Magic Knight - A versatile class that uses both physical and magic attacks.
+
*Warrior - A fighting class that specializes in close range combat.
*Bishop - A master class of offensive and support magic artes.
+
*Swordsman - Has a variety of strong and quick sword attacks.

*Thief - Uses quick dagger attacks, giving enemies little chance to counter.
*Twinsword - A quick swordsman class that uses dual swords to deal fast attacks on the enemies.

*Mage - Uses offensive magic spells for dealing damage.
*Brandish - A advanced form of a swordsman that fights with broadswords.

*Priest - Specializes in healing and support magic.
*Ninja - A class that hides in the shadows and uses trickery to defeat enemies.

*Fighter - Uses fast and power attacks based on martial arts.
*Pirate - A agile class that is a master in both close and ranged combat with a dagger and pistol.

*Hunter - Long range fighters that are masters at fighting with a bow.
*Paladin - A swordsman class that uses broadswords and focuses on using healing artes.

  +
*Magic Knight - A versatile class that uses both physical and magic attacks. Requires mastery of the Swordsman, Mage, and Priest jobs.
*Gunman - A new class that is a master in ranged combat with dual guns.

  +
*Bishop - A master class of offensive and support magic artes. Requires mastery of the Priest and Mage jobs.

*Twinsword - A quick swordsman class that uses dual swords to deal fast attacks on the enemies. Requires mastery of the Swordsman job.

*Brandish - A advanced form of a swordsman that fights with broadswords. Requires mastery of the Warrior.

*Ninja - A class that hides in the shadows and uses trickery to defeat enemies. Requires mastery of the Fighter, Thief, and Hunter jobs.
  +
*Monk - A class that uses skills of a fighter and healing artes. Requires mastery of the Fighter and Priest jobs.

*Pirate - A agile class that is a master in both close and ranged combat with a dagger and pistol. Requires mastery of the Thief and Gunman jobs.

*Paladin - A swordsman class that uses broadswords and focuses on using healing artes. Requires mastery of the Brandish and Priest jobs.

*Gunman - A new class that is a master in ranged combat with dual guns. Requires mastery of the Hunter job.

Radiants
  +
Like in Radiant Mythology 2, Radiants of the player's current job are available for battle, granting a key item which is required to obtain the first Radiant set. There are two Radiants of the same job that must be dueled at the same time, requiring the player to have a second party member who can be selected freely from the current guild members. Pieces of the second Radiant set are scattered throughout the EX Dungeon, which is available after clearing the game. All Radiant and rare equipment provide statistics based on fixed percentages instead of randomly generated numbers.

Features

Battle System

Radiant Mythology 3 utilizes the Flex Range Linear Motion Battle System from Tales of the Abyss, using the free run system by using the PlayStation Portable's analog stick. The game introduces a new ability known as Radiant Drive, which allows the players to ignore the normal arte combo progression, similar to how Over Limit functions in Tales of Vesperia. During Over Limit there is an ability which allows the player to use artes without consuming TP.

Leveling System

Unlike the previous two Radiant Mythology games, guild members who are not in the active battle party will continue to gain in experience and level at the same rate the Protagonist's group does. All characters not in use will not gain experience after reaching level 70.
