The Temple of Ice is a place right outside of Flanoir in Tales of Symphonia. As the name suggests, it is extremely cold, and ice is found everywhere. Most if the monsters are adapted to the cold, such as bears, penguins and other ice-based monsters. The famed Celsius' Tear can be found inside the temple, though they require special gloves called Penguin Gloves that can be made in Flanoir, which allow the wearer to hold the plant without freezing their hands. It is home to Celsius, Summon Spirit of Ice.

[edit] Pact with Celsius

Upon arrival, the group enters the cave and finds the new challenge for the Sorcerer's Ring; it can sprout cold breezes that freezes enemies and water. Soon, they get to a giant lake. Lloyd tries to freeze the lake with the Sorcerer's Ring, but it is ineffective due to the high-pressured water. However, if they have the Celsious’ Tear, they will be able to properly freeze it. After successfully freezing the lake, the group can slide from one place to another. After getting to the other side of the frozen lake, they will have to rotate four pillars to their right position, whereas their positions will be hinted through a stone table next to the closed door. Finally, Lloyd and the others arrive at the altar of the temple. Celsius will ask them what they want, since she already has a pact with Mithos. Sheena says that she wishes Celsius to form a new pact with her, and as such, Celsius says that she needs to test out their powers before accepting any pacts. After the battle against her and her wolf Fenrir, Sheena successfully forms the pact. If Efreet's pact was made before entering the Tower of Salvation for the first time, Efreet will show up and talk to Celsius. She shows a great dislike to him, because they are dangerous to each other. They then say that they will trust Sheena and the others to use their powers well.

[edit] Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

  • A temple inhabited by the Summon Spirit of Ice. Parts of it are destroyed by overgrown plants.

In the sequel of the game, the Temple of Ice’s ice and snow is beginning to melt, and plants begin to grow there. It has the altar of Centurion Glaciescore.

[edit] Light and Darkness

After leaving the massacre at Flanoir, Emil, Marta and Tenebrae arrive at the temple with Regal. Regal is surprised to see the regular entrance to the cave blocked by a giant Celsius' Tear root. Emil tries to touch it, but quickly takes it back before he burns himself. They eventually meet Genis and Raine there, rejoining after the separation in Izoold. They have to split up once again after being filled up about the massacre at Flanoir, though, but not before Regal has confirmed that he read Raine’s love letter.

After the sibling have left, the others try to find an alternate path into the temple. They manage this by climbing up the lake with the stones there. When they get inside the temple and to the other lake there, Emil tries to freeze with the Sorcerer's Ring, just like the original cast did before, though this is unsuccessful. Marta suggests using the Water Spider they received from the man in front of Flanoir before. They tread across the water and arrive at the shrine of Glacies' core, only to find out that someone beat them to it. Suddenly, two yetis attack the party, and they are forced to fight.

After the battle, they go to leave the temple. However, Marta sees a man who she refers to be “Daddy”, and runs after him. When Emil, Tenebrae and Regal notice that she is gone, they follow her, though a large pile of rocks block them from Marta. Suddenly, some members of the Vanguard appear and challenge the group. After the battle, Regal uses his hands and fires a large beam to destroy the blockade. Emil is shocked, but asks Regal why he does not use his hands all the time with such powers. Regal simply tells him that he used his hands once to kill the one he loved, and therefore promised himself to never use them to battle again.

After running a bit farther, the trio sees Richter pinning Marta to a pillar and prepares to kill her. As they are about to go and save her, Aqua stops them from interfering and sends water-monsters for stalling.

After battling off the monsters, Marta is stabbed, and Ratatosk's core is retrieved from her. Emil gets into Ratatosk-Mode and attacks Richter, though the latter gets away and runs off with Aqua. While Regal helps Emil, Emil himself looks at the dead Marta, grieves over her death, until a voice rings out. Sheena appears, and behind her is Marta. Sheena reveals that she used a special technique from Mizuho to fake Marta with a wooden log, tricking Richter into stabbing the log and taking a fake core instead.

The normal Emil, relieved that Marta is safe, runs over to her and hugs her. Marta apologizes for making him worry, and Sheena introduces herself for them properly. The ninja explains that she came to rescue an old couple from Flanoir.

As they walk to the exit, Sheena asks if she has met Emil and Richter before. Suddenly, a trap door opens up, and Sheena plummets down to the bottom before they can discuss it. When they arrive at the bottom to help her, she is with the strange man from Flanoir who gave Emil the Eau De Seduction bottle and an unconscious Alice. The man introduces himself as Decus, and apparently Sheena's fall was broken by Alice. Emil quickly tells her who she is, and Sheena throws Alice away the ground. Unfortunately, this awakens her. Before a fight starts, however, Sheena summons Celsius to make an ice wall to separate Alice and Decus from the group. The latter leaves the cave and decides to head to Meltokio next.
