Thunder Blade (サンダーブレード Sandaabureedo?) is a classic lightning or wind-element spell that has appeared frequently in several games throughout the Tales series.

[edit] Arte Description and History

It typically involves the summoning of a large blade of lightning in the sky, launched downwards to create an electric shock along the ground. In the Playstation 2 versions of Tales of Destiny, it is possible to cause the "Paralysis" status effect to the affected enemy.

In Tales of Symphonia, Thunder Blade is Technical for Genis only, meaning he has to use Technical EX-Skills. If he uses Strike EX-Skills, he will learn Spark Wave instead. This does not apply for Kratos and Zelos, as both will acquire Thunder Blade regardless.

In Tales of the Abyss, Thunder Blade is a high level wind elemental spell learned by Jade Curtiss at level 48, and also usable by Asch. Using this spell at least two hundred times is one of the requirements for obtaining Jade's second Mystic Arte, Indignation. Using Thunder Blade in a fully charged Earth or Dark FOF circle will change the spell into Gravity Well.

Thunder Blade appears as an Altered Arte, learned by Rita Mordio. Like other lightning type attacks in Tales of Vesperia, the spell is both wind and fire elemental. The spell can be learned if Rita casts Blade Roll with the Hell Fire and Gale skills equipped. In the PlayStation 3 port, this is also the spell Rita must use in order to use the Mystic Arte Indignation.
