The Unison Attack is introduced to the player by Kratos Aurion while traveling along the Ossa Trail. Its main function is to allow all of the characters to attack one opponent at the same time without retaliation. The Unison Bar appears above the current party members' portrait in battle. When full, the controlled character can initiate a Unison Attack through the . For the actual attack movement to occur, however, this initial strike must hit; if it misses, the Unison Bar is wasted.
On a successful activation, the current battle stops to perform the Unison Attack, making it useful for interrupting particularly dangerous enemy attacks. During the movement itself, the player has a limited amount of time to command each party member to use one of four offensive artes that are pre-assigned in the status menu. Additionally, if certain combinations of artes are used, it will result is a special Compound Special Attack that acts as free damage.

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology
The Unison Attack is much like its previous incarnation where, upon activation, the members of the party each use an arte against an enemy. In this game, however, there are no combination attacks.
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World
In Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, the Unison Attack is a special movement monsters or playable characters can combine their attacks, preset based on the elemental grid, dealing a great amount of damage to the enemy. Only Emil and Marta can trigger a normal Unison Attack, though others can participate. There is a special arte that Emil and Marta can use together as a Unison Attack, Ars Nova.
