Valkyrie (ワルキューレ Warukyuure?) is a cameo character from Namco's Valkyrie series, first appearing in the game Valkyrie no Bouken: Toki no Kagi Densetsu as its main character. She has made an appearance in numerous games in the Tales series as a powerful swordswoman and nearly godlike entity, often equal in power to Spirits. She can be summoned to battle with the Valkyrie arte. She is also associated with the Cyclone arte, which is a reference to her Cyclone no Jutsu (サイクロンの術?, "Cyclone Spell") in her originating franchise.

Tales of Phantasia
Valkyrie is a servant for the god Odin and comes to Cress Albane in order to retrieve Odin's spear, the divine Gungnir, by taking him to a room later revealed in the Tower of Flames. Though the Gungnir is a powerful weapon, Cress chooses to give Valkyrie the Gungnir in exchange for borrowing her Pegasus (ペガサス Pegasasu?), which he uses to fight Dhaos's aerial attack on Midgards during the Valhalla War. In the future timeline of the PlayStation, Full Voice Edition, and iOS releases of the game, if Cress defeats Odin at the Tower of Flames, the Valkyrie will bestow the fully-powered Gungnir and the collectible "Statue of Justice" alongside her congratulations. Valkyrie's name is rendered as "Varukirii" (ヴァルキリー?) in this game and originally had different sprites in the Super Famicom version. In the PlayStation version and all subsequent versions, Valkyrie takes on her now standard appearance despite retaining the different name.
Tales of Destiny
In the original Tales of Destiny release for the PlayStation, Valkyrie is a female warrior summoned by the "Valkyrie" item, dealing Light-elemental damage to all enemies. Her item's description reads: "A crest in the form of a female warrior".
Tales of Eternia
Valkyrie resides atop the Glimmer Spire, a place Valkyrie states is not a place for humans to tread and issues warning to those who enter, though only Reid Hershel hears her. As Keele Zeibel states, she is neither human nor Greater Craymel, and she is intrigued by Reid's ability to hear her. She then decides to test him in a one-on-one duel. Her might is great, able to defend against attacks and cast spells instantaneously. Upon defeat, Valkyrie says that she learned something from Reid's erratic swordsmanship, a reference to his self-taught skills, and creates the S.D., "a sword beyond human comprehension", for the group. Once its seal is broken at the appropriate place, it enables Meredy to learn the Destiny summon.
Tales of the Abyss
Tales of Vesperia
Valkyrie's clothing is used as the cameo costume for Estelle in the PlayStation 3 and Definitive Edition releases of Tales of Vesperia. It can be obtained by equipping the downloadable content title "Adventurous Valkyrie" (若草色の戦乙女 Wakakusairo no Senotome?). The "Valkyrie" attachments that appear in the game are also direct references to Valkyrie.
